"My recent focus as an artist has been reconciling my personal art with the art I create as a middle school Art teacher. I create my own example of each project I ask my students to complete so that they have access to a sample process of thought and technique. The particular challenge for my students is that they often rely on images found on the internet, as the school computer lab is often their only technological resource. The 'teaching' intention of my recent work has been to show students the value of taking ordinary images and using them in an original way either via arrangement or other alterations to make a product that is uniquely theirs. My personal intention of these works of art is always to encourage associative thought. The choice of symbols in my work make perfect sense to me, but viewers may have to spend some time interpreting the symbolism for themselves because most of my work has multiple and often contradictory concepts." - Megan LeSage
